Prevent Acne Scars

“Prevention is better than cure”, thus it is better to prevent acne scars rather than cure it.  Paying more attention to proper prevention or treatment to acne will aid much to prevent acne scars.

To prevent acne scars, first step is to let the wound heal naturally then use the necessary treatment for these scars while preventing acne from reoccurring.  Unfortunately, most of the times, even though you try to prevent acne, acne will still occur.   There are different ways of treating acne, knowing the proper way of doing so will help prevent acne scars.  Here are some tips on treating acne:

For mild acne, topical treatments that are available over-the-counter such benzoyl peroxide, sulfur, resorcinol, salicylic acid or lactic acid can be used.  Benzoyl peroxide kills bacteria, sulfur dries acne, resorcinol prevents comedones, salicylic acid unclogs pores and lactic acid serves as antibacterial. For moderate to severe acne, the use of antibiotics is more appropriate in reducing bacteria and fighting inflammation.

In the treatment of acne scars, if the acne has been healed, a facial scrub can be used to remove the dead skin. Using colloidal silver on scars helps in the prevention of scar infection; and massaging Vitamin E from capsules to the skin area with scar every night and Aloe gel daily may help reduce scar. Massaging rosehip seed oil on the scar twice a day or lavender oil on a regular basis is also helpful in reducing the appearance of scars.  Aloe vera juice can also help prevent scars when applied immediately after a cut or burn.
